Kiehl's New York flagship store can trace its roots to 1851 when a small apothecary opened on “Pear Tree Corner” at Thirteenth Street and Third Avenue. The Brunswick Apotheke served up medicinal herbs, unguents, and concoctions mixed to family recipes. John Kiehl began working for the owners of the small apothecary 30 years after it first opened, eventually taking over the business and renaming it the John Kiehl Apothecary.

Second generation family owner, Aaron Morse, was an avid motorcyclist and collector of vintage bikes. Many of the motorcycles that comprised Mr. Morse's extensive collection have been displayed in the Kiehl's "Motorcycle Room" at their flagship store. He owned many vintage Harley Davidsons and Indians, as well as Ducatis. In the 1970s the East Village was not the safest place to be, so he hired Hells Angels as the store's security force. You will find his collection scattered throughout the world wide store locations.

Today Kiehl's sponsors events like the inaugural concours d’elegance - Legend of the Motorcycle: a celebration of the art of motorcycling. http://www.LegendoftheMotorcycle.com.
