I like the idea of Muni-Meters in the city… for when I have to drive a car. They are more efficient to run than the old meters and you have an option to pay by a credit card. However, the concept never made sense to me for motorcycles. There is nowhere to place the little paper receipt so that it will blown away or be absconded with, and why do I have pay the same rate as a big car?
Apparently, city councilman Peter Vallone and state assemblyman Michael DenDekker feel the same way. They are lobbying the city and state to make motorcycles exempt from the Muni-Meter madness. See the full write up in the Times.
One day I hope we end up with dedicated parking like the city of San Fransisco.
